Vaultbreakers does not have a confirmed full release date. Its official Steam base-game page currently says “To be announced,” and BetaDwarf has described a 2027 aim rather than publishing a precise day. The playable public Demo released on October 8, 2026, and a separate October Alpha window is scheduled for October 15–21. Neither event should be presented as the launch of the complete game.
Current date status at a glance
When a precise date appears elsewhere, compare it with the base-game Steam page and an official Vaultbreakers announcement. Store databases, countdown sites, search snippets, and community posts often turn a test opening or target year into a false release date. A real launch announcement should identify the full game, region timing, and platform rather than just say that “Vaultbreakers is live.”
Windows PC is the confirmed platform
The official Steam listings identify Windows as the supported operating system. The current base-game requirements call for a 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11 system and DirectX 12. There is no confirmed native Linux or macOS build in those requirements. A game appearing in a Steam library on another operating system is not evidence of native support.
Console versions have not been confirmed in the cited official pages. Do not infer PlayStation or Xbox releases from controller support, trailer button prompts, or general interest in consoles. Controller navigation is being developed for the PC client, and that work can exist without a console announcement.
Steam Deck status remains unknown
Valve has not assigned the full unreleased game a final Steam Deck compatibility result, and an early Demo result would not guarantee the base game’s launch status. The base requirements are also likely to change as optimization continues. Treat Deck play reports as build-specific experiments, not an official promise of Verified or Playable status.
If you try the Demo through a compatibility layer, record the Demo AppID, client build, SteamOS version, Proton version, renderer, and control behavior. That makes the result useful without converting it into a platform claim. Do not overwrite the site’s platform facts based on one successful boot.
Keep the three Steam identities separate
The base game uses AppID 306910. The public Demo uses AppID 4488770. A historical Playtest entry uses AppID 1851490. Each can have a different download, update history, save behavior, requirements block, and availability state. Confirm the AppID when diagnosing installation or access problems.
This distinction also prevents two common errors. First, the Demo’s October 8 date is not the base-game release date. Second, an old Playtest package in an account does not automatically grant access to the October Alpha. Follow the active official access message for the test you intend to join.
What the Demo includes today
The public Demo is PvE-focused and offers Nymera and Bjornir, part of Wolfswood, Haven, solo play or groups with up to two friends, and progression through the first Vaultbreak. It is designed as an introduction, so its smaller world and mode selection should not be mistaken for the complete base game’s final feature list.
The full Steam description presents both PvE and PvPvE expedition play. Public patch notes also describe content beyond the Demo, including more regions, heroes, enemy types, Vaults, items, and social systems. Features seen in a test can still be revised before release, and numeric balance should always be tied to its build.
How to track a real launch announcement
Wishlist the base game rather than relying on a third-party reminder tied to the Demo. Check the official site’s announcements and the news attached to AppID 306910. A confirmed release should be reflected consistently across those channels, while a regional unlock time may appear later.
Before buying hardware or booking time off, wait for finalized requirements and unlock details. The System Requirements guide records the current PC floor, but it is not a guarantee of launch performance. For the immediate playable slice, use the Demo guide; for the limited October window, see the Alpha Test guide.
Claims that are not yet confirmed
There is no exact launch day, price, edition lineup, preorder program, native Linux build, native macOS build, console release, or official Steam Deck rating in the verified sources used here. There is also no basis for treating the October Alpha end time as a retail unlock. Leaving these fields unresolved is more useful than filling them with rumors that players may act on.
This page should change when an official first-party source changes. Until then, “TBA, aiming for 2027, Windows PC confirmed” is the accurate short answer.
