Vaultbreakers Haven Guide

Use the Vaultbreakers Haven to prepare missions, manage storage and crafting, follow building upgrades, organize co-op, and avoid test-scope confusion.

Haven is the preparation and progression space between Vaultbreakers missions. Use it to choose the next objective, inspect and store equipment, learn or craft recipes, repair or replace gear, follow NPC and building upgrades, manage the party, and decide what a successful expedition should bring back. The Demo includes an upgradable Haven, but not every building or Alpha social feature is guaranteed to be unlocked.

Start with the current map: July notes expanded Haven and added clearer building and upgrade markers. If an online guide names a station or NPC you cannot find, check the guide’s test date and your quest progression before assuming the client is broken.

Haven task index

Mission planning

Do: choose one objective, difficulty, hero, and extraction condition.

Check: quest text, party readiness, equipment condition, and recovery supplies.

Inventory and storage

Do: separate active gear, protected materials, recipes, quest inputs, and comparison items.

Check: need markers before selling or salvaging.

Crafting and upgrades

Do: follow live recipe, NPC, and building requirements.

Check: actual costs and output because patches have changed both.

Party and social

Do: confirm leader, objective, client, and queue before leaving.

Check: Alpha Haven capacity and invite behavior after it opens.

Prepare before opening the mission

Choose the mission for a reason. Advancing the main quest, learning extraction, collecting a marked material, practicing a boss, or testing a new item are different goals. A clear goal tells you which gear to risk and when to return.

Inspect every equipped item for condition, slot, threshold, and granted ability. Bring healing and wound recovery according to the current tooltip. If a previous run failed to a hazard or loss of mobility, give one slot a direct answer rather than increasing damage everywhere.

Set an extraction condition in Haven while the inventory is calm. Leave when the quest item is secured, a protected recipe drops, equipment breaks, essential recovery is gone, the party splits, or wounds exceed the plan. This decision is harder after a successful fight.

Organize storage for decisions

Official July notes describe expanded storage through rows, chests, and up to five tabs in that public test. The Demo may expose those upgrades progressively. Use the space you have, not the maximum described in an older note.

Organize by decision rather than visual rarity. Keep current mission gear together, protect quest and building materials, separate recipes that still need to be learned, and reserve a place for items awaiting comparison. This makes it possible to answer “what can I safely salvage?” without opening every tooltip again.

Need markers matter. July notes say items can indicate uses for quests, recipes, buildings, or upgrades, and tooltips may identify factions and locations. Treat a marker as a reason to inspect the item. It is not proof that every marked item is rare, but it prevents accidental loss of a known input.

Follow buildings, NPCs, and quests

Public notes connect Haven buildings and NPC upgrades to backpack space, healing, wound recovery, experience, gold, interaction speed, crafting, storage, and other bonuses. October adds further NPC and building progression. Do not assume one universal upgrade order because requirements and rewards have been revised.

Follow the current main and onboarding quests first. July notes say early progression was reordered to introduce crafting, shops, storage, NPC upgrades, and the Codex more naturally. If a feature is missing, inspect the quest log and Haven markers before searching for an Alpha-only shortcut.

Compare an upgrade with your bottleneck. More storage helps when protected inputs crowd active gear. Backpack space helps when missions end only because inventory fills. Healing or wound-recovery bonuses matter when those resources set the retreat point. Choose from current descriptions rather than a copied tier list.

Craft, repair, and salvage in one loop

Before crafting, name the target item and the situation it should improve. Confirm the learned recipe, current cost, source hint, station or menu, and output. Updates have changed recipes, costs, icons, ordering, shops, and rarity behavior, so the live screen matters more than a static number.

Repair an item when its role and replacement cost justify it. Salvage only after checking quest, recipe, building, and upgrade markers. If a damaged item supplies an essential ability, prepare a replacement before converting it into materials.

Return crafted or repaired gear to the storage group for the next mission, then compare it under similar conditions. Haven work should end with a clearer expedition plan, not merely a lower pile of materials.

Set up solo and co-op sessions

The Demo supports solo play and co-op with up to two friends. In Haven, confirm that everyone is using the Demo client, sees the same objective, and understands the selected difficulty. Choose a party leader and a retreat caller before entering a mission.

July notes describe a redesigned Social view with requests, invitations, presence, and an improved friends list. February notes list fixes to friend queues and parties. Those posts show the intended flow but do not guarantee that every old menu label or session behavior remains identical.

October describes Haven social changes for Alpha. Recheck capacity, joining, party leadership, and progression behavior when that client opens. Do not promise crossplay or console invitations; no released console product or cross-platform policy is established.

Close the loop after extraction

After returning, separate objective items and protected materials before any sale or salvage. Compare the result with the mission goal: quest advanced, recipe found, material secured, new route learned, or item tested. If the objective failed, record whether the cause was preparation, route, combat, inventory pressure, or party coordination.

Choose only one major adjustment before the next attempt. Changing difficulty, hero, loadout, party size, and route at once hides the useful lesson. Haven is where the run becomes repeatable.

Recover from common Haven confusion

  • A building marker is absent: continue onboarding or the main quest and compare the source’s test date.
  • Storage advice assumes five tabs: use only rows, chests, and tabs your client has unlocked.
  • A recipe will not appear: check whether a recipe book must be learned and whether its prerequisite is complete.
  • A party member sees a different queue: confirm product, region, party state, and current access.
  • An upgrade list conflicts with the screen: use the live client because rewards and costs have changed.
  • You keep losing useful materials: separate protected quest, recipe, building, and upgrade inputs before salvage.
