Vaultbreakers quests connect Haven preparation, Wolfswood objectives, combat, extraction, and progression. The public Demo includes onboarding and a main-quest path through the first Vaultbreak. Earlier February and July notes document fixes and revisions to quests, markers, interactions, and world locations, so exact steps must follow the current Demo rather than an old Playtest route.
Read the objective as a state change
Open the current quest entry and identify its active verb, target, location, and completion condition. “Find,” “defeat,” “interact,” “return,” and “extract” represent different states. A target can be complete while the quest still waits for a Haven hand-in or a successful extraction.
Track one main quest and, if useful, one compatible side objective. Too many markers make route decisions harder and can hide which interaction advanced the state. Before leaving Haven, confirm the selected quest and whether any required item is in storage or the backpack.
Accept
Read the full current text, reward, client scope, and first action before entering an expedition.
Route
Choose a Wolfswood landmark and extraction path that remain useful if the objective moves or fails.
Confirm
Watch the tracker after every named interaction instead of assuming a kill or pickup counted.
Secure
Extract or return to the correct Haven NPC when the active state requires it.
Follow the Demo’s onboarding in order
The Demo is built to introduce Haven, two available heroes, part of Wolfswood, perks, co-op, and the first Vaultbreak. Let its current onboarding teach the interaction and menu sequence. Skipping text or joining a more advanced party immediately can leave a prerequisite incomplete even when you know where an objective is located.
If a prompt seems absent, check whether the previous conversation, equipment action, or tutorial interaction completed. Return to the named Haven point and read the tracker. Do not use a historical console command, save edit, or unverified shortcut to force progress.
Plan the expedition around the objective
Choose the shortest route you can explain, bring recovery appropriate to its known danger, and leave inventory space for a quest item. If the objective enters a building, Vault, or one-way transition, regroup and check supplies before crossing. Optional loot is secondary once carrying a result that must survive extraction.
Use landmarks rather than relying on an old static map. July notes changed Wolfswood sites and activities, while October expands later Alpha areas. A location name from those patches does not prove the public Demo uses the same entrance or enemy arrangement.
Confirm pickups and interactions immediately
After collecting an item or using an object, pause in safety and look for tracker progress, an inventory item, dialogue, map change, or new instruction. If nothing changes, do not repeatedly press the interaction under attack. Clear the immediate danger, re-read the exact requirement, and check whether another party member owns or triggered the object.
For a group, state who carries the quest item and whether progress appears personal or shared. Do not assume one player’s update advanced everyone. Verify each tracker before moving through a portal or leaving the region.
Handle the first Vaultbreak as a quest milestone
The first Vaultbreak is part of the Demo’s promised progression. Arrive with treated wounds, repaired equipment, available cooldowns, and a plan for the return. Read the current event prompts; older December notes describe a historical first-Vault wave and bomb flow, but later builds can revise the steps.
Use the first attempt to understand the arena and objective rather than spending every consumable at the opening. If the quest state changes during the encounter, say it aloud to the party. Secure the completion through extraction or Haven follow-up when the tracker requires it.
Diagnose a quest that appears stuck
First record the exact quest name, active text, client, build, party size, region, and last action that updated it. Check prerequisites, the selected tracker, required inventory, Haven dialogue, difficulty, and whether the objective belongs to a different test scope. Leave and reopen the quest screen before repeating a dangerous interaction.
If the issue persists, reproduce the shortest safe sequence. Note whether all party members are affected and whether relaunching restores the state. Do not delete saves or configuration folders; public Demo progress is announced to carry into Alpha, so destructive troubleshooting has a real cost.
Separate quest progress from durable progress
The official Demo information says ordinary progress may reset before full release while Legacy progress carries forward. The Demo announcement additionally says Demo progress carries into the October Alpha. A completed quest in one test is therefore not proof that the same state, item, or route will persist to launch.
When a new client opens, verify the tracker and Haven state before assuming loss or completion. Keep test-specific notes labeled and update the current route rather than merging two quest versions.
Record rewards accurately
Capture the reward shown before acceptance and the result actually granted after completion. Identify whether it is an item, recipe, currency, Codex option, cosmetic, Haven upgrade, or Legacy-related progress. Include the build and difficulty. One reward observation does not prove every mode grants the same result.
Do not invent drop rates or bonus conditions. If the interface does not state a probability, record only what occurred. If a patch changes a reward, preserve the older value as historical and use the current client for guidance.
End the quest loop in Haven
After extracting, speak to the required NPC or use the indicated service, secure the reward, store valuable items, repair equipment, and read the next objective before queuing. This is also the best time to check Codex or building changes that the quest unlocked.
For objectives that look like repeatable tasks rather than narrative quests, use the Challenges guide and keep the two systems distinct unless the current interface connects them.
